Horse Training
We take horses for training:
- To improve horses rideability for the owner
This can be extremely beneficial for the amateur or part-time rider who wants their horse to be professionally schooled during the week and ready for them to compete at weekends.
The owner can also have training to help them through the grades.
- To train and compete on owners’ behalf
As a successful rider/producer Adrian Evans is in demand. Adrian competes a number of horses for owners from Chailey Stud.
Twiggy Craft, owned by Mrs Claire Gray

This mare has been produced by Vikki up to Discovery and was competed at the Hickstead Royal International by Adrian where she was placed 4th in the Royston Novice Stakes.
The horses have the best possible training environment, with a happy, relaxed and professional atmosphere. Adrian is happy to compete horses from novice to Grade A.
Owners receive regular information and updates regarding their horses training and are very welcome to visit the yard, to watch training sessions or just for a pat and a polo!
- To school and sell-on on owners' behalf
Sometimes owners do not have the time, facilities or the desire to sell their horse. We are happy to take on this responsibility.
However, these horses must be honest as we will not sell a bad horse for any price.
- Rehabilitation
We believe a sound horse is a happy horse and our horses all have physio – exercise – massage routines.
We can incorporate a horse coming back into work after injury or lay-off into this scheme. We are happy to work with your vet in any programme.
- Breaking
We take horses in for breaking, this normally entails a six week project, after which your horse will be happily schooling on the flat and over a course of jumps.
We can if you require extend the period to include their first few shows.

Rider Coaching
As well as the knowledge Adrian Evans has gained over the years, he is also a British Showjumping Association (BSJA) Apprentice Coach.
Adrian believes in the philosophy of Lars Sederholm of giving the rider a thorough understanding of flat work and not being in a hurry to jump fences.
Education is divided into three main parts:
- Work on the rider
Coaching the rider is about training the mind, once the brain understands what is required, the body will follow.
The rider must become aware to use his body in an effective way, in order to be in harmony with the horse, with the ultimate aim of the horse and rider becoming a partnership.
It is very good for the rider to spend a few minutes thinking about their position and their effectiveness on the horse before schooling.
This helps riders physically and will give them a more balanced, relaxed frame of mind from the start.
- Work on the horse
My aim as a coach is to introduce the rider to the understanding of making the horse supple, light and responsive, obedient and level on both sides.
The final result is to create straightness, which means the horse is able to use himself equally on both sides, maintaining balance at all times.
The horse should be worked in a way that there is no resistance, his education an extension of the way he naturally goes.
- Work on the partnership
Once the rider has understood the importance of being well balanced on the horse and of using the aids in a way the horse understands, the work can start on making the horse and rider a combination.
